International Linehaul Surcharge
Like your business, Australia post will continue to adapt to the challenges of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. For us, this has led to a significant reduction in the volume of air cargo to and from Australia around the world.
Due to the significant reduction in the volume of air cargo and the increase in the cost of securing cargo space, we will implement surcharges for international routes until further notice. International outbound packages sent to the destination area as of March 8 2021 For shipments, it will assume the additional air freight, which will incur surcharges for international route, until further notice.
Rest assured, rates by destination area will be reviewed (and may be adjusted) on a monthly basis until we can restore outbound air travel to proper arrangements prior to the pandemic. The fee will vary depending on the destination area you choose, and any additional charges incurred will be shown as a separate item on the invoice.
How do I calculate the cost of the Auspost Surcharge?
Auspost has increased costs are aligned with item weight, and therefore the surcharge is a rate per kilogram.Regular service fees + Surcharge [article weight x applicable surcharge KG rate
Examples (current as at 8 March 2021):
0.49 kg shipment from Sydney to New York (United States – Zone 4):
Surcharge amount: 0.49kg x $2.00 = AUD$0.98
0.85 kg shipment from Melbourne to London (United Kingdom – Zone 6):
Surcharge amount: 0.85kg x $3.00 = AUD$ 2.55
